Bardia National Park and surroundings
28. - 30. November 2018

After rather physical days in the mountains, it was nice to settle in the lowlands again - both in terms of the heart-beat rate and surrounding temperature. On the 28th. we carried out some really great visits in the communities surrounding Bardia National Park.
BirdLife Norway support several communities in the area, in several ways. We visited the juice factory in Thumni, had a look at a few sites in Rammapur where our bio-gas project is implemented, as well as water and irrigation projects and a leaf-plate production facilities.
The next day, 29th. of November, was dedicated to exploring the inside of the National Park. Bardia National Park is the largest National Park in Nepal, covering about 1000 square kilometers. It is probably best known for it's population of the Royal Bengal Tiger, which at the moment of my visit counted slightly more than 80 mature individuals. The park does also hold a small population of the Greater One-horned Rhinoceros.
More to come...
