This first year Paddyfield Warbler was caught and ringed at Purkebolsvatnet in Hordaland county (western Norway) 2 September 2001. The bird was caught in a mist-net during standarized Barn Swallow ringing in the reedbeds surrounding the lake. Barn Swallows from all over the region gather and spend autumn nights here. Several thousand birds can swarm in the dusk.
The first county record, and only the 12th. for Norway. All Paddyfield Warblers have been recorded in southern Norway during the autumn period 17/9-22/11, mainly late September - except an adult in Finnmark county July 1999.
