Birding abroad

I love travelling, and have visited a few countries for birding both via work and just for leisure. This section is a mixture of trip reports and galleries from some of these journeys.

Arctic norway

Northern Norway is an unique part of European and Norwegian nature. It holds several sought after species at all times of the year. Read my reports from several visits to the northern edge of Europe, the taiga and tundra of Finnmark county.

Lithuania and Poland

We visited southern Lithuania and northeastern Poland to bird a week in late May 2004. 146 species were recorded. 129 in Lithuania and 101 in Poland. Birders in action were Arild Breistøl, Göran Högstedt and Frode Falkenberg.

Morocco

Could this be the perfect country for birding? At least it is one of my favorites. The gallery of selected bird pictures are from three trips to Morocco and Western Sahara in December 2005, April 2011, and February 2012.

Gambia

I spent a week in January 2013 in Gambia together with a bunch Norwegian birders. It was wonderful, both in terms of birds, photography and nature. The birding was concentrated to the Western and Lower River regions, and I saw about 225 species of birds.

Tibet

Posts from two trips to the roof of the world, Tibet. I visited this breathtaking country to work together with local ornithologists for four weeks in September and October 2004, and 14 days  in February 2008.
